in regards to the first post, i’d had the same issue with the .001, .002, .003,... and you do NOT need to change the extensions to r01 r02.

you simply manually open ANY of the .### files from inside of winrar and begin to extract, it will automatically go through the archive without the need to change all those extensions.

i know how to extract rar files ( when they look like this type- red and green books stacked together )
but what if the property calls it rar files but it looks like this- white with a Windows Logo in the middle...not the books stacked kind?
when i right click to extract it, theres no “extract files' or 'extract files here' option.
well, ill just wait for help.
thanks for this site.

Corbonzo it’s about the way is formated your hard drive. Now is FAT 32 in order to make it NTFS you have to formate it and that’s a big job and after that to install back what you have on your computer.First step back up softwares and drivers you are going to need them later. A work like that give you the chance to upgrade your computer with a newer and bigger hard drive and some extra RAM memory and looks like a renavation on a house. Anyway good luck.

Hey guys, if you have a .001 .002 and so on file system... Just use a program out there called HJSplit

and join them with it rather than winrar
winrar works fine with these so long as there are not too many of the .001 type files, when there are more i use HJSplit but the right click>>extract method is new to me I will try it.

I downloaded RAR files and WinRAR. I had no problem extracting and converting to burn a video. I played the video before burning & there’s no sound (picture is fine).

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I wrote a program that will play videos without the need to uncompress the RAR file.

Here are the steps required to get it working:

1.
Download:

MPlayer http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/win32/
UNRAR (extract into Mplayer Directory)
http://www.rarlab.com/rar/unrarw32.exe
RARPlayer (extract into Mplayer Directory)
http://tasdoof.com/rarplayer/

3. Drag and Drop RAR file onto RARPlayer.exe’s Text Box

I have left the source on if someone wouldnt mind cleaning up the java.

Its my first Java program so dont criticize me too heavily.

Also if someone has a mirror for RARPlayer I would appreciate it (using borrowed hosting at the moment).

If u ever get a file that looks like this after u extract the files for the first time [.001 .002 .003 .004 .005 etc] then u have to change those to files to look like this [.r01 .r02 .r03 .r04 .r05 etc]

OR you could just use hjsplit, or another free joiner utility - link below
